Round up 2019

Based on the past two years I raced home mid-afternoon to set up for little kids who sometimes start showing up at 3:30 or so. I was racing around throwing chips and candy into appropriately ghoulish (or not) containers and putting up last minute decorations. Hubby came home and helped. All done by 4:00 pm.

Nothing happened till 5:30 pm! By then I was sitting in front of a screen watching spooky stuff having resigned myself to a slow night.

Then there was another knock at the door and from then on trick-or-treaters steadily trickled through till 8:00 pm. Total numbers - 40 ish. Very happy with that. Not much candy left.

Stand out costume was a girl dressed as a jelly fish with an elaborate headdress covered in netting and all lit up with purple LEDs!

Biggest gaff, on my part, was asking a kid if he was dressed as Spawn (I meant Venom). With an exasperated sigh he said, "Black Panther!"......My bad.

And as it was a beautiful night my hubby and I harnessed up the cats and took 'em for walk round the neighbourhood. More yards decorated and more decorations this year so it was a really nice walk around. And the weather was just so darned perfect for a Halloween night! Cats had been packed away all evening so both were excited and curious to see what all the activity was about. There was much stopping and sniffing, inspections of spaces under cars, etc.

As we made our way back to the house a passer by squinted at us and asked, "Are those cats?!" I said, "Yes! They're all excited about Halloween!" My husband then quipped, "They're actually kids in costumes." Oh my, did I laugh!!

Yes, and this one went as a hobo! (Under car grease, I suspect).

Wow - so glad the cats got to partake. That comment of your husbands gave me a chuckle too!
