Chaos and Calamity...

...what happens when all the boxes you've shipped arrive and you have no where to put them!

Maybe we can build a shed in the backyard with the empty boxes...cover it with a tarp and duct tape it into place. No? Neighbours won't like that? Oh.

Well, while I figure this out why don't you spend some time perusing this collection of imaginative news illustrations of chaos and calamity from Le Petit Journal. The way it was before Snap Chat ;)

We apologize for the Interruption...

By this point we should have arrived at our destination. I probably won't have access to my laptop for a while. Things will be chaotic and nothing, nothing will be in its right place...

But once I've wrestled things into some form of organization I will be back.

I hope.

Light a candle...recite an incantation...keep me in your thoughts.

Heading West

11:55 pm - time for one more story...

I've made this post ahead of time because, well, I've been busy packing and stressing. You see at some point this weekend we all (me, husband, and cats) should be departing Doha and moving back to Canada.

Yes, we're happy to be returning home but what the future holds...well, no one knows that, do they?

Soon we'll be back in Newfoundland and on the Avalon; the home of rain, drizzle and fog.

Soon I'll be hearing the low tones of Fort Amhert's fog horn signalling that the fog is once again rolling in.

Soon I'll be back on that North Atlantic island surrounded by the frigid waters which depths hide the hulls of numerous ships.

Glad we're travelling by air...

So many ruins to see...

This is Minster Lovell Hall. There's a whole history about this place that includes war, betrayal, tragedy, and the discovery of a skeleton in a secret vault!

I just felt a shiver...

Primal Scream

In our ongoing efforts to organize our move back to Canada (packing, shipping stuff, travel itineraries complicated by shipping cats, plus trying to organize a place to live once we land, etc) I've, well, quite frankly I've wanted to scream. A lot. So, I kind of relate to this guy. Of course, his screaming is motivated by something other than frustration. And I'm not covered in sticky red stuff...yet.

This newish video from ensemble Liima (some of the old Efterklang gang) seems a bit gory at first but stick with it.

There's a surprisingly upbeat ending...

Trickster and Wise Guys

I've posted here before about my admiration for the corvid family. Well, here's an interesting listen about the intelligence of one, the crow. It's the CBC IDEAs program "Wise Guys" about crows who "are no bird brains."

Eek...?

swapface - creepy

I hadn't come across this particular trend (is it a meme?) before yesterday. Creepy but often funny. For my husband, however, the creep factor is so high for him he can't even look at them!

Dead of Summer

I've seen the first 2 episodes and...meh, not bad. Nothing award winning but it's got a good bit of froth with some pretty people and nifty scares. Fun summer horror.

Also set in the 80s I suspect this is the lite version of Stranger Things.

Oh, and Happy Canada Day!

If you're from Newfoundland, this day, Memorial Day, includes somber reflections on WWI losses. Hopefully "NEVER AGAIN" remains true despite Brexit.
