Old Man Mose is Dead...

He kicked the bucket...
F#%& it! F#%& it! F#%& it!

Yep, apparently the original lyrics include the f-word.

"Warning: Explicit language.
That’s right, explicit language. If you don’t like it in your music, please don’t listen. You’ve been warned!

This was the first known song which had the F word in it, and it was absolutely scandalous when it first came out in 1938. In fact, it not only uses the F word, it uses it repeatedly. Read the lyrics and you’ll see why! Too bad there wasn’t a TV performance like the spectacular one by Betty Hutton, albeit to tamer lyrics..." - Digital Citizen

This is the clean version..

Pumpkin Fest 2016

Well, despite the stresses of our move at least we are back where the temperatures get cooler, orange is everywhere, and leaves change colour. But more significantly there are Halloween events! Yes, public events that anyone/everyone can attend!

Although things are all still rather hectic I really hope I can make time for a few of these upcoming seasonal soirees.

But if I only get to one it will definitely be Pumkinfest 2016 at Lester's Farm! We were there in early August with the newest addition to the family.

No...not the goat. A baby boy.

Not our baby boy!  My hubby's cousin and partner just had their first born - super cute! We hope to be honourary Uncle and Auntie.

Check out more farm photos!

Halloween Fabric

My mother-in-law recently went to the local fabric shop and was nice enough to purchase me a bit of Halloween material. One is a print on grey of a haunted house, ghosties and ghoulies theme while the other is a beautiful shimmery orange. She would have got me more but that was about all they had. The salesperson told her most of the Halloween stuff is already gone. Must have flown off the shelves!

But there's always online shopping, right?

HMS Terror

"In 1847, Captain Sir John Franklin led a Royal Navy expedition to navigate the Northwest Passage. His crew of 129 men and two ships were lost in the Arctic, leaving no survivors. For over 150 years, the final resting places of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were a mystery. The Erebus was found in 2014, and Deadline reports that the wreckage of the Terror has been located by the Arctic Research Foundation. This missing expedition is also the premise of an upcoming adaptation by AMC..." - AV Club

Song of the Sibyl

"4AD continue to repress all the albums Dead Can Dance released on the label during a fruitful seventeen years together with the next three coming this November in the shape of Garden Of The Arcane Delights (both a double LP and CD so to now include both the band’s John Peel Sessions), Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun and Toward The Within." - 4AD

How do you spell relief?

A hot water bottle, a steaming mug of neo citran, a warm bed, and a purring cat.

Well, it's official. I'm completely exhausted, run down, and now, sick. Nothing serious. Just a cold. Anywho, what with the move and the continued challenges of settling in to the rental, going through the storage locker, finding a job, (my husband's working and adjusting to his own new schedule) and starting the search for a more permanent dwelling, well...I'm no spring chicken anymore that's for sure.

Finding time and enthusiasm for my favourite time of year is proving surprisingly difficult.

However, as motivation I've recently discovered that the owner of the house we're renting from is also a Halloween fan. Which does not come as a huge surprise given some of the stuff she has around the place (more on that later). So, I've been told the neighbourhood will kind of expect this particular address to do it up right!

I've got the Halloween boxes out of storage -- I think decorating will be where I put my energy -- already got the candy. Costume?

Probably the old standby that is easy and not too scary...the gypsy/fortune teller. Rita Hayworth looks good in it!

I'll probably look more like Rochester disguised as the fortune teller from Jane Eyre or, more likely, the mad woman in the attic.

I want a tiny house...

...for my backyard...and not just for Halloween :)

Admittedly tho, the place we are currently has a rather tiny kitchen. And that is teaching me some valuable lessons.
